<p>Amid a mixed trend in the global markets, the benchmark stock indexes Sensex and Nifty trimmed early losses to finish higher on Wednesday. <p>To end the day at 65,539.42, the 30-share BSE Sensex gained 137.50 points, or 0.21 percent. It decreased by 369.03 points, or 0.56 percent, over the day to reach 65,032.89.</p>

<p>The NSE Nifty finished at 19,465 after gaining 30.45 points, or 0.16 percent.</p>

<p>The Sensex pack’s top gainer, UltraTech Cement, increased by 2.43 percent, followed by NTPC, Tata Motors, Infosys, Power Grid, Mahindra & Mahindra, Larsen & Toubro, Maruti, Wipro, and SBI.</p>

<p>The top laggards, on the other hand, were JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finserv, Axis Bank, and Bajaj Finance.</p>

<p>Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong all had negative closing prices on Asian markets.</p>

<p>Markets in Europe were mainly trading in positive territory. Tuesday’s US stock market close was lower.</p>

<p>Benchmark Brent crude increased by 0.1% to $84.90 per barrel.</p>

<p>According to exchange statistics, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares of stock worth Rs 2,324.23 crore on Monday.</p>

<p>Tuesday’s stock market was closed in observance of “Independence Day.”</p>

<p>The BSE benchmark increased 79.27 points, or 0.12%, to close Monday at 65,401.92. The Nifty finished at 19,434.55 up 6.25 points, or 0.03 percent.</p>
