<p>Goa Sports Minister Govind Gaude said on Tuesday that the stadium in Fatorda would be ready for the opening ceremony by October 23 as part of the government’s preparations to host the Games.</p>
<p>“We have reserved two days for any last-minute touch-ups, little adjustments, etc. By October 24, the Sports Village City in Campal will be ready. We have instructed all organizations, including Smart City, PWD, the sewerage company, and GSIDC, to stop all construction activities beginning on October 25.</p>
<p>“Our employees are diligently working around the clock. We are trying to make this dream a reality. We ask the All-Powerful for a smooth process, stated Gaude.</p>
<p>Gaude said that other locations close to the stadium have undergone substantial preparations since a sizable throng is anticipated for the opening event.</p>
<p>Gaude said that the Prime Minister is scheduled to fly into Dabolim airport before traveling to Fatorda, where he would declare the Games to be open and take in the intended musical, dance, and electronic performance programs. The Goa administration has said that Modi would remain in the stadium for an hour and fifty minutes before being sent out by a march past.</p>
<p>In order to accommodate the large number of people expected at the stadium, Gaude highlighted the amenities that the government has provided. He noted that sufficient parking arrangements have been made at the We for Fatorda Ground, the Church Complex area for VIPs, the multipurpose hall area for students, the Collectorate building area exclusively for athletes, as well as the Science and Technology department area close to Ravindra Bhavan.</p>
<p>“All other gates at the stadium will be locked,” he said. “Gate 8 at the stadium will be reserved for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s admission, Gate 1 for VIPs and media, & Gates 4 and 5 for fans.</p>
<p>According to Gaude, the program will begin at 4 PM and the gates will shut one hour before the PM arrives.</p>
<p>“A huge crowd is expected, therefore spectators, students, and other people should arrive before 3.30pm. The Goa government has chosen to construct LED screens at 10 locations around Goa, including open spaces, to transmit the events since it won’t be able to accommodate more people than the stadium can hold, the minister said.</p>
<p>About five hours will be spent on the whole program. From October 19 to November 9, more than 10,000 athletes will compete in the Games, he added.</p>
<p>Badminton is the first sport to start at the Games on Thursday at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium in Taleigao, followed by fencing and volleyball.</p>
<p>156 athletes are anticipated to arrive at the Margao train station and Dabolim airport on Tuesday.</p>
