The date of the Critics’ Choice Awards event is set for March 12. Prior to this, renowned Film Critics’ Guild member Poulomi Das facilitated an engrossing roundtable conversation with the CCA 2024 candidates, which included notables like Konkona Sen Sharma, Reema Maya, Manish Saini, Rajshri Deshpande, and Barun Sobti. Next, Barun—who is nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in “Kohrra”—discusses his thoughts on going in-depth with a character’s minute characteristics, stating, “Even after wrapping up a show, I often find myself still wrestling with the character’s essence.”

“I feel like, did I truly irritate them? Though my feelings don’t always align with those of the people around me, there are moments when I feel connected to them. The problem is that we have so much more time to delve deeply into a character’s subtleties when there is a series and many seasons. Actors these days sometimes overthink their parts, but in all honesty, you can only really comprehend a character once you’ve lived and breathed them on screen,” he said.

Along with renowned filmmakers like Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Devashish Makhija, P. S. Vinothraj, Avinash Arun, and Rima Das, the nominees also honor performers like Vijay Varma, Kay Kay Menon, Sonakshi Sinha, Shefali Shah, and Kalki Koechlin. Three main categories comprise the awards: nominations for feature films, web series, and short films.
